We have fallen head over heels for Twister, a really soft cake yarn with beautiful color transitions, that develop into festive, subtle, or crazy wild color combinations.
If you crave a treat, you should know that “cake” is just a term for the way the yarn is packaged. Our own Twister excels by being twined which makes the yarn easy to work with.
The amazing colors unfold as you go and it is a true pleasure to watch the slow transitions of the colors. Here you get a whopping 1094 yards (1 km) of yarn and one skein is enough if you wish to knit or crochet a shawl or a scarf. The fabulous cotton is combined with acrylic which adds a lighter and more solid result.
Twister is perfect for shawls and scarves, but it has a lot of potential uses. It is easy to care for since it is machine washable. Please note, that the yarn is tied together with a small knot where the threads change colors.
Generally, you use more yarn for crocheting than you do for knitting. So you might experience that you cannot use the entire skein when knitting e.g. a shawl. Of course, it depends on the project and the pattern, you choose. Normally, it is not a problem to have too much yarn, but please consider, if you prefer to start with the thread from the center or from the outside part of your Twister cake-yarn skein when starting on your project. You can combine it with a one-colored Twister e.g. an edge on a shawl, for sleeves, or a rib edge on a blouse or a poncho. Check out Twister Solid right here.
The suggested knitting gauge is approx. 26 stitches x 35 rows with US needles size 2.5 (3 mm). Twister is a very flexible yarn that can be knitted tightly with US needle size 1.5 (2.5 mm), so you get a knitting gauge of approx. 28 stitches. You can also knit it looser with US needle size 6 (4 mm) and get approx. 22 stitches e.g. extra soft shawls and scarves. Thus, you can experiment with the knitting gauge and easily vary it with various needle sizes depending on the project you are about to start. Try making a small gauge swatch of 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm), so you can measure your knitting gauge before you start. Then you have the option to adjust it, so it matches the pattern or the gauge, you wish.
Color 26: 110, 120
Color 34: 114, 123, 128, 152
PLEASE NOTE that Twister and Twister Solid will never match up 100% since they are dyed in separate dye lots.
The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2276-367). Find more information about the certification at https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/

I cannot get enough of these cakes. The colours are amazing. I was previously using Scheepjes but they are so expensive. I believe the quality of the Hobbii product to be of equal or better quality and the price makes projects worthwhile. I had made a few beach dresses from a pattern I found on Pinterest which ideally need a single colour yarn to ensure the top (which is worked in 2 halves) then matches up under the armholes when you start working in rounds. Because of the price of Hobbii it is possible to work from 2 cakes for the same same price of one of the others. It would also appear that 99% of patterns are for shawls and there are only so many of these that are needed! I am working on my own creation at the moment using 2 cakes so back and front should correspond. Once the dress is finished I’ll share the pattern assuming it works out ok! Service, quality and speed of delivery are exceptional. Many thanks.
I purchased several of these yarn cakes and I’m pleasantly surprised at how soft and huger they are!!
I spent a good time squishing them before I started.
The colours are vibrant and intense and the colour changes are amazing. The quality of this yarn is amongst the top selling yarn cakes out on the market right now.
The colour changes are made with small knots and can’t be seen unless close up. I get very excited when this little knot comes along :)
Projects are taking longer to finish as you’re always stopping to put your work down to admire the colour changes.
This yarn cake has become one of my favourites to work with. The yarn just glides over your hook, no snagging as it’s slightly twisted . I absolutely love it and is very affordable.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this yarn.
Once you buy one you’ll be wanting them all.
Well done Hobbii !
Well, it finally happened!
I have just recieved my very first oder of cake yarn!! (Clapping excitedly) And it has more than exceeded my expectations! 😊
Twister 'raindrops' is the very reason I signed up to this website, a little over 2 years ago now! After completely falling in love with it, and hoping one day I would be in a position to own it.
Well, last week I was finally able to place my order to purchase, and oh my god was it worth the wait! 🙈😂 Haha
This yarn is just SO beautiful! The colours blend so well! And the overall effect just flows..
I have far too many ideas as to what to make with it! Haha so as so pictures of the finished product? Well, you may have to wait a while! 😂 haha
But, in the mean time? I cannot recommend this product enough.
Beautiful, super soft, and worth every penny 😊
-thank you, Hobbii!! ❤
This is the first yarn I have ordered from Hobbii - I LOVE this yarn and what a great way to introduce myself to Hobbii yarns. I usually buy a Whirl which I do love but I think this yarn is actually a little nicer to work with - it is soft and very smooth on the hook (using a tulip 4mm) - I downloaded the Happiness Shawl which I thought was a great free pattern and will certainly showcase the yarn beautifully.
I was nervous as I am in the UK and since Brexit :-( its been a bit confusing about how much things will cost to come into the country - I actually found a YouTube video from a Hobbii customer in the UK who explained it well. Due to import VAT and postage it didn't make it any cheaper than a Whirl - however the colour choices feel more varied and next time I will order multiple items for better value.
This is a great yarn to crochet with, it doesn’t twist or tangle and the ends are easy to find. The result is very fine and high quality too - you can really feel the cotton content and it adds to the end result. I bought 5 skeins for the c2c blanket pattern in colour 21 which is beautiful dusky pink merging into silver grey. I’m fairly new to crochet but the blanket is coming on beautifully, and almost looks shop bought (more thanks to the quality yarn and easy to follow pattern than my skill set). I really can’t wait to get some more in another colour. Would definitely recommend and especially to beginners wanting to build their confidence with a good project.
