The dark normally teaches us to appreciate the light – not to mention clear and strong colors. Give a little room in the dark to see these great bright colors of Sultan Shadow unfold.
All the variations in the Shadow series have a foundation in deep black, which the colors then slowly grow from. The dark bottom gives the clear colors extra power and makes them seemingly shine and catch the eye.
Cotton Kings Sultan Shadow is a lovely soft cake yarn in 100% cotton, which is loved and admired for its beautiful color changes. The quality results from 4 thin threads that are not twined together, which makes it extra soft and airy.
The colors in Sultan Shadow change slowly, by only 1 thread at a time, which makes for a fantastically beautiful transition of colors. It makes it extra exciting to knit and crochet with because one gets to see how the colors meet when your creative project unfolds. It takes about 1 skein to make a shawl/scarf.
Tip: before using the Sultan Shadow skein, run the 4 threads through a bead so the threads are gathered throughout the work.
The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2076-311). Find more information about the certification at https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/

I bought Sultan Shadow for my partner and daughter, and made them both a shawl out of it. They both loved it, and I loved working with it! I was surprised at first as it's 4 separate strands, much like embroidery floss. I was only used to working with acrylic yarn before this, so it took a bit of getting used to, as it was thinner, too. However, I got the hand of it quite quickly and soon really enjoyed working with it! The yarn comes out of the cake very easily, didn't have to worry about anything knotting up or getting tangled, and it flowed through my hands and hook nice and smooth as well. With acrylic yarn I usually struggle a little as the yarn often squeaks, even though my tension isn't tight. This yarn however is amazing. It's super soft and light. I will definitely be buying more of this, and am already looking at other Cotton King yarns, as I'm sure they're just as amazing as this one!

So, after waiting for far too long, I finally decided to treat myself to shadow. 😊 And what a great decision it was! Haha. I bought 3 balls - turquoise, purple and pink for some upcoming projects, and was not disapointed at all.
The overall blend and effect of the colours against the black? Amazing. The purple was slightly less bright that I had imagined, however none the less beautiful. The yarn is not the softest in the world, but given that it's 4 ply? Still a suprisingly nice texture.
Highly recommended yarn. ☺

Just finished the classical attitude shawl from 1 cake of the pink/Black.
At first it was difficult getting used to a yarn that was so thin but also seperated as such. But as I got on with it it became easier to use.
Only downside was mine kept knotting in the middle but, after a while, it became easier to use.
Will certainly be buying again

Stunning yarn with the perfect ombre.
As others have said, getting used to the separate threads doesn't take long and once comfortable is no different than 'normal' yarn. What makes these yarns standout is the ombre. No 3 threads of one colour and one of another producing a candy stripe effect, this is a smooth increase of tone/colour. Beautiful.

I am a sucker for gradient cakes and Sultan Shadow are right up there at the top of the list. The colourways are divine, and it's so smooth to work with. The drape of the finished product is life itself! If I had more hours in the day I would make my entire wardrobe floaty swirly dresses in ALL the sultan (shadow and other) colors.
