Baby Cotton Organic Midi is our fabulous GOTS-certified Baby Cotton, just in a slightly thicker version. Midi is equivalent to an 8/6 cotton, a really good, versatile thickness, that can be crocheted or knit on a US size 4-6 needle or a size E-G hook (3,5-4 mm).

The Baby Cotton Organic line is made from 100% pure, fabulous yarn quality in a league of its own. It is spun from the finest Egyptian cotton fibers, it is environmentally friendly produced just for Hobbii and it is vegan.

Of all the cotton types, Egyptian cotton is one of the most exclusive ones. It’s famous for being extra durable and soft. The long, exclusive cotton fibers are extra luxurious and are used for the finest cotton products around the world.

The organic cotton in Baby Cotton Organic Midi is grown with care and is exclusively picked by hand when harvested. That way, the fibers are harvested at the optimum time when the plant is mature and the fibers have had enough time to fully develop.

The gentle picking also ensures that the fibers keep their volume, resilience, and length. It’s resulted in one of the most fabulous cotton yarns we’ve had in our hands for a long time.

P.S. If you’re looking for a cotton yarn that hasn’t been colored at all, you can find it in color no. 15, which is completely raw and natural. But take note that the color may vary slightly more than usual from batch to batch.

The entire Baby Cotton Organic line is GOTS certified (no. ICEA-TX-273) which is your guarantee that the yarn has been produced with thought and respect for the environment - and with no chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizer.

About GOTS
The GOTS certification is an internationally recognized standard, which is used for the environmentally friendly and socially responsible production of ecological textiles. It stands for very high demands in all parts of the supply chain, from when the raw goods are harvested, to you having the finished product on your needles. You can read more about the GOTS certifications here: https://www.global-standard.org/

I recently irdered 3 of these yarns in colour 01. (White)
The colour is more off white.. Possibly even a lighter cream, but still a very nice shade.
The yarn itself is lovely and soft! And definitely appropriate for more sensitive skin (contact-based) in my opinion, atleast. Slightly more compacted than anticipated (as a strand) but by no means impacting the project. This does however mean the balls were slightly smaller than anticipated, though. So maybe ordering a little more than predicted usage next time would be a good idea.
Overall, a beautifully soft yarn that I'm looking forward to working with again in the future!
Thank you, Hobbii. ☺

I received some skeins as a gift (no 15). This yarn is lovely and no more splitty than most non-mercerized cottons I have been working on. It is soft enough to make garments for a baby, so true to its name. I really wish I could buy much nore before it is gone.

However, as it is not mercerized the colours tend to fade faster in a wash and in the sun. Also, as is the nature of cotton, it does not stretch. It does, however, absorb a lot of water and when wet, can stretch out of shape, so it is important to dry finished objects flat.

Beautiful colours! But there is some yarn splitting and final softness entirely depends on the stitch and pattern.

Paige

lovely, I've enjoyed working with this - I hope it wears well for the recipient!

Paige

absolutely beautiful colour, looking forward to working with it
